New Patients
Register as a New Patient
You are advised to check with the surgery that we are currently taking on new patients prior to completion of registration forms.
Please call the Health Centre on 01241 872692 and our staff will be happy to guide you through the process.
Currently our practice list is closed to patients already registered with a GP in Arbroath or the surrounding practice boundary area.
If you are new to Arbroath and live in any of the following areas you may be able to register at The Abbey Practice: Arbroath, Easthaven, Ethiehaven, Friockheim, Greystone, Inverkeilor and all areas within these limits. Please check with the practice prior to completing registration forms.
Click here to see a map detailing our practice boundary.
Once you have contacted the practice and registration has been agreed, you will be asked to complete a registration form and a health questionnaire which will provide useful information while we wait for your medical records to arrive from your previous doctor.

Temporary Patient Registrations
If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one, you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
Disabled Patient Facilities
The patient areas of the Health Centre are situated on ground level and are easy to access for the disabled. There are no steps for wheelchair users to negotiate inside or outside the building.
